Here is a small sample of great feedback from past students:
Amazing – great preparation, interesting, useful. Please more from Lazarus.
That was one of the most practically useful classes I’ve been to at a kink event in years.
very informative. My best class of the weekend
By far the best presentation we have seen in a long time.
Thanks for the great class! The possibilities with the Redmayne Catch still have me smirking and wanting to clap like a seal.
really good ties and ideas and Lazarus was funny… i like the funny ones
So nicely done. Loved the demo. Loved the teaching. Loved the handouts. Loved what we learned. Great class!
Very well taught. Clear with modular, step-by-step breakdown of knots. No suggestions for improvement.
Best class of the event great presenter actually had hand outs which i had been complaining about everyone else not having. explained things very well. you could tell he presents a lot
That was an awesome class. Real hands on techniques that are simple to administer yet impossible to escape from. Undoubtedly one of the best classes we have ever attended. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Funny, creative, effective. This class was great! I loved the theatrical effects in the beginning to demonstrate what would be taught. The handouts were incredibly helpful. Very engaging and fun class, great instructor. Please do more!
This class was amazing. Lazarus is a amazing presenter who started the class off with a fun little dramatic opening that caught our attention, then taught us some really interesting and functional hojo style ties. His handout was also very well put together!
Loved this! I’ll definitely be using the Prusik knot. I was impressed and pleased by how much material Lazarus covered, and it didn’t feel too fast (except for a bit at the end, where most people had handouts to follow along with, but there weren’t enough for all of us – then it was hard to follow the last few ties).
Aside from the basic ties I learned in Mataleo’s intro class, I took the most away from this class. Tiernan is a bit cheesy, but totally fun and the stuff he taught was easy to absorb and pretty cool. He’s also a very good instructor, even with a large group (the room was packed).
Apparently Prusik knots are awesome. The music was cheesy, but we got so much out of this class that right afterward we ran to Rope Extremes and bought enough MFP to tie Prusik shackles with Redmayne catches to all four corners of our bed.
The demonstration part drew the audience in, but didn’t take much time away from the actual hands-on practice. We had a lot of time to practice, and the presenters mingled in and out of the groups, making sure we were all safe and doing things in the right way, answering our questions. I would like to see more workshops from this group in the future.
Very good class. The demonstrations were very good, easy to understand, done at a good pace and the instructor was very good to watch. The demo bottoms were helpful when going around the room to help. The instructor was well prepared and held things up while he slowly demonstrated “how to”. The room was a bit small and the crowd was rather big so next year he should have a bigger room.
Excellent! Very fun and sexy (and also silly) intro scene, which also worked well to set context for later, when he taught us each knot and reminded us what he’d used it for in the intro. Demonstrating each knot multiple times, and then leaving enough time for us to practice each one multiple times, made it easy to learn. Demo bottoms who knew the knots and wandered around the room made it even easier. Knots they taught were excellent: practical, learnable, versatile, and in some cases doing things no other knot I know does.
Damn. I had fun at this one. He had a kind of choreographed demo opening that really caught my attention. Then he built from extremely simple beginnings, doing one step then the next and then the next, and each step was something that was useful all by itself. When he finally showed us his new catch, we all kind of let out a collective “whoa”. Simple but cool. He and his demo bunnies also were very good about making sure everyone had each step, but at the same time, kept things fun and moving along. GREAT class. Oh! and he provided handouts so that we had something to help us remember.
Aside from the class being far too popular for a hands-on class in a small classroom, this was a fantastic class. I learned so much, and was one of the lucky few to get the handout, which gives me a very good reference for all the ties covered in the class. The presenter did an excellent job of demonstrating everything repeatedly, and going around to give individual attention to each student despite a very high attendance. Two assistants also provided direct assistance to students on each tie. This was a fantastic class and the major negative of it is that I feel I learned the material so well, I might not be inclined to take it again. I hope that Lazarus has more material and will present something else at the next BiB!
Really cool class. 100% Unique material from anything we had seen so far at the con but still highly accessible to beginners. Lazarus opened with more choreography and flourish than any other presenter we got to see which, if not instructive, was a nice change of pace. The class went really well for me until he got to the more intricate pulley systems of rope. At that point I repeatedly tried and failed to get his final self-named technique to work but was unable to flag down him or any of his helpers for assistance getting it right. It was frustrating enough that I had to stop and figure I’d take the information from his website later on. His incorporation and explanation of the tiny bits of Hojojutsu were fascinating and well explained to those of us who had never seen such a thing before. Overall he was a top-notch presenter and I would definitely attend another of his classes in the future.

Description
We will cover 5 knots and techniques that are great for rapid capture.
During the first half we will go over how to tie three variations of my favorite bondage knot–the prusik–and practice several very cool applications. This knot can be used to secure someone inescapably to a bed or bondage frame in less than a minute. A modified version can be used to make belly-chain style rope handcuffs that are very effective in containing eels (people who like to struggle and slip out of rope bondage). I have met many people proudly bearing the “I-can-escape-from-anything” title that had to add “…except that one time” after they had been introduced to this knot. ::wicked grin::
This class will also feature a rope-only device that allows a rope to become tighter but will not allow it to loosen. But it does so in a way that will not cinch down and threaten your sub.
The second half of the class features two techniques for rapidly applying rope to a victim… er… partner. One technique allows you to tie a knot around a wrist or ankle when you only have one hand to tie with. The other technique comes from hojojitsu roots and is a sort of arm-binder/chest harness that can be tied onto a person in less than a minute. It will give them something to think about whilst you drag them away to your next bit of evil.
Target audience (beginner, intermediate, advanced)
Beginner… Or anyone who doesn’t know the prusik knot and some of the cool things that can be done with it.
Format (lecture, discussion, demonstration, hands-on)
This is a practical, hands-on session that starts with a demonstration (to get your attention), moves on to a practical lecture and then to a practice session with high involvement by the instructor to ensure that the new skill is cemented in your mind before you leave.
What should attendees bring (how much rope, etc.)
You can learn all these skills with 15 feet of any rope you happen to have.
Having said that, while 15 feet is all you actually need, we will be learning to build a tool/toy with this knot and this part of the class requires 30 feet of rope cut into four pieces: two 5-foot pieces and two 10-foot pieces. If you bring your own rope, you can build the tool and add it to your own toy bag.
Description
This class will discuss and demonstrate the concepts needed to allow you to create a wide variety of rope corsets of your very own artistic vision and design. It will also demonstrate the creation of a waist cincher/demi-corset that can be taken off in seconds!
This is a hands-on class and you will leave with practical knowledge and skills. We will cover:
- Various techniques and patterns for wrapping rope around your partner
- Various patterns that add greater stability and flair (corset “boning”)
- Optional variations that will produce different looks
- How to extend rope when you run out
- Optional elements like garters or shoulder straps
- How to add a corset to an existing chest harness
There will be some time for trying out the techniques and some practical experimentation, but we will not be having each member build a complete corset in class.
Target audience (beginner, intermediate, advanced)Beginner-Intermediate)
Intermediate. You will need to know how to handle long ropes, so you should have at least *some* experience. Do not take this if you have never handled rope before.
Format (lecture, discussion, demonstration, hands-on)
This is mostly lecture and demonstration, but will include some practical, hands-on experimentation as well.
What should attendees bring (how much rope, etc.)
You can take this class and learn the concepts without having to do a full coreset in class. if you take this approach, you can learn the core with one 30′ and one other rope.
That said, if you want to do a full coreset, they consume a lot of rope. You can easily burn through 100’ of 1/4″ rope, even on someone that is slight-of-build. If you use thicker rope, you will not need as much. The trade-off is that 1/4″ rope will make a smoother finished product.
To do a full corset, you want, at a minimum:
- Four 30’ or Two 50’ or One 100’
- 2 – 10’
- …all of the same type and thickness. Bring more if you think you might need more.
Description
This class will go through a series of chest harnesses, demonstrating how they are similar and different—how one often builds on the ideas from another—and instilling an understanding of the underlying theory so you can create and test your own harness for your own purposes!
This is a hands-on class and you will leave with practical knowledge and skills. We will cover:
- Bikini Harness
- Shinju
- RopeFairy’s Caress
- Pentagram (Star) Harness
- How these ideas will let you design your own rope Bra if you like
- We will also cover how to extend rope when you run out, and various elements of style (Dom-points) and how to “use-up” rope at the end. 😉
Target audience (beginner, intermediate, advanced)
Beginner
Format (lecture, discussion, demonstration, hands-on)
This is a practical, hands-on session that rotates between demonstrations of the creation and application of the knots, step-by-step walk through of the creation of the knots and practice sessions with high involvement by the instructor.
What should attendees bring (how much rope, etc.)
- Need: At least two ~30’ (9m) pieces of rope.
- Optional/helpful: A third 30’ piece. Having at least one piece that is ~15’ (4.5m) may also give you some helpful flexibility.
Description
When a rope is ready to be retired or you find yourself no longer using it, it can be given new life as an impact toy! If you are a maker or a crafter, this class is for you!
This class in an introduction to making impact toys out of rope. The classic Captain’s Daughter aka Cat O’ Nine Tails was traditionally made from rope! This class will introduce you to Flogger-Forge, a site with many resources and patterns for creating a wide variety of floggers and other impact toys.
In the class we will make a Simple Flogger and Zoe’s Zipper Slapper. If you bring rope you don’t mind cutting up, you can get crafty too and make your own right along with us!
We will also go through the resources found on Flogger Forge so that you can strike out and design your own toys in the comfort of your own time and space 🙂
Target audience (beginner, intermediate, advanced)
Beginner — Advanced.
This craft can be done at any level. In class we will be doing two beginner-level projects, but we will be going over resources that will allow you to take on much more complex projects, if you wish.
Simple Flogger: ~26′ (we will cut it into three ~5′ pieces and one piece ~11′.
This design works better with thicker rope (5/16″, 3/8″), but it can still work fine with 1/4″. If you want to use 1/4″, it can be helpful to have an additional 5′ length for a total of four.
Zoe’s Zipper Slapper: Variable. Anything in the range of 20-30′ of 1/4″ (6mm) will be fine.
Description
We will cover 5 knots and techniques you can use to turn your sub into a pony!
- A crotch rope. We will briefly go over the classic crotch rope, which is designed to put pressure on the various fun bits
- …and go over a version designed more to hold things in.
- A bit gag made from rope.
- The Dragonfly Harness, a rope armbinder based on the dragonfly sleeve, but modified to make it much more secure
- A tie designed to keep your pony from kicking off his or her heels …or to keep them more on their toes if they are not in heels
Target audience (beginner, intermediate, advanced)
Intermediate. (None of these are too hard, but this is a lot to cover. You should have already completed a 101 class and have some experience in handling rope so you don’t get tripped up by the basics.)
You will need several pieces of rope; a minimum of two 15-foot and one 30-foot piece is recommended. It is also helpful to have a short, thin thing to be used as the core of the bit gag (something like a pen or 6″ stick or rod); this is not required, but it helps add to the structural rigidity.
Note that if you want to put your sub into all four elements at the same time and prance them around the room a bit at then end of class, you will need six 15-foot and two 30-foot pieces.
