Wonderful for starters

Great book for starters and quite funny, the pictures are relatively easy to follow and I only had a few issues as I find following picture guides more difficult then others might

Great book, with real, practical and easy to use tutorials and advice

This is a highly educational, fun, and so well-made book! It covers all safety rules, covers so many basics that are just a must-know when diving into working with rope, and has great tutorials. Since I have it, I have not put it away - and also, have seen how many knots I actually already know from knitting and crocheting. Which I find kind of funny. It definitely opens new ... definitions.

Einsteigerfreundlich und lesenswert für Könner

Die Lieferung war etwas schwerer... ich musste einmal nachbestellen. ABER das Buch ist es alle Male wert! Ich bin (zugegeben) ein Fan von TheDutchy und liebe seine Videos, mit dem Buch habe ich aber nochmal ein gutes Nachschlagewerk das bildlich und gut erklärt. Englisch sollte man natürlich lesen können. Wenn es eine Deutsche Version des Buches geben wird werde ich sie auch nochmal bestellen xD

Awesome book for beginners!

Anyone interested in learning about the art of Shibari, will not go wrong with this book. Pricey but worth every penny. Informative step by step idiot guides to all designs rigs!

Pictures friendly and informative

This is a must have for rope bondage. Has pictures to reference. Also mentions nerve points to prevent damage. A must for anyone into rope bondage. If you don't have a book on it then this should be the first one you buy. Worth every cent penny!

Perfect book

I am a beginner, and this book thoroughly and clearly covers pretty much every concern you could have about safety, law, techniques, etc. Very fun and inspiring to try out slowly and gently with your lover. Make sure to give lots of loving hugs and smoochies too.

Required reading for all my students

TL/DR: Should be req'd reading for all new practitioners. It's REALLY good. I've been studying shibari for 10 years and teach beginner workshops. I wish I'd taken a look at this incredible textbook for beginners. I'm gonna start selling them at classes just to make sure folks have EVERYTHING they need to get started safely. If you're just starting out, there's a lot of books out there, this one deserves a place on your reading list. My favorite part of the book was the negotiation aspect is covered in very real, simple, best-practices. How to join a local kink community safely. The beginner's rope bondage curricula presented in this book are more than enough to teach folks safety, then some solid beginner patterns. This helps reinforce the fundamentals (frictions and anchors) very nicely, Of course, highlighting safety considerations throughout. There is even an insightful lesson about quick release design to immediately relieve stress for your model. It's come in handy a few times. You know, for safety. Before anything else, read up on safety. Happy customer

Great Book

Got this for my boyfriend and I, as we wanted to try learning more bondage techniques. This book is very in depth, and has very clear images of the steps which I appreciated as I bought another book where that was an issue. This was the book that I kept and I returned the other, and one unexpected feature of the book was a couple pages with a chart at the end with a B.D.S.M. checklist. Last night we spent hours going through the checklist talking about each subject and whether or not we would want to try it. As a couple we are both very open minded when it comes to sex, so that alone will be very helpful to try some new things and write down our opinions on it. Overall, I would highly reccommend.

Gonna buy and read one book, start with this one

if you're only gonna buy and read one book, start with this one. I'm learning about ropes please my love. so I was looking for a book to help me understand the whole thing. This book is really it but I really love about it is that it starts up by telling you about the blood veins and the nerves and everything that you have to know so that if you do tire love up you don't damage her or him. It then goes on to describe knots bondage rolls all kinds of things that are the nuts and bolts I believe. Because I've been trying them out, I really like the book before we go to bed and try something new and that turns out to be something sexy because she knows that I'm about to try something that makes her excited and happy. now that I've read a bunch of books, I would say buy this book and then go to one of the rope suppliers like TwistedMonk and watch all of their videos where they actually do it with a person and they tie them in front of you and show you exactly how to move the ropes once you've seen that like in the video then the book Because it's easier to follow during the more complex instructions. With both the only thing left is your imagination and the fun you have making your partner crazy with it anticipation and the fun of playing with each other.

Hidden gem to get started with Eastern-style rope

I've tried four other rope books and this is BY FAR the best, most comprehensive introduction. Photographs are clear and easy to follow. The book includes the necessary material on safety for both top and bottom. The approach here is to teach four knots (square, half-hitch, lark's head, overhand). Every tie that follows in this impressively thick volume builds on those four underlying knots. Book goes from basic single column to complex harnesses and combinations. Suspension is not covered and that is a good thing. The focus here is taking a beginner through the foundations to be able to put together a rope scene. Includes great sections on exercises to help rope sessions go from technical ties to sensual experiences for both participants. A truly great reference anyone into rope.

Werk zum Thema Seil Bondage und BDSM. Es wird im Schwerpunkt Seil Bondage thematisiert, aber es gibt auch die wichtigsten Grundlagen zum Thema BDSM an sich, perfekt. Die Art und Weise wie mit Notfällen oder sonstigen Ereignissen umgegangen werden soll wird in Flow Charts dargestellt. Genial! Die Anleitungen sind sehr sehr gut bebildert und detailliert dargestellt. Fesslungen gibt es in allen Variationen mit hilfreichen Hinweisen. Es ist ein Traum. Wenn ihr den englischen Sprache mächtig seid oder bereit seid übersetzen zu lassen (ein Smartphone sollte das schon bewerkstelligen) dann kauft euch dieses Buch umbedingt! Absolute Empfehlung für alle die Seil Bondage lernen wollen und lieben!This book is amazing. It is big, it is extensive. It is printed and processed to a high standard. The pictures were all taken in the white Zentai, which in my opinion makes the whole thing FSK0 and is therefore reduced to the essentials. Top! It is possibly the best (!) Work on rope bondage and BDSM. The focus is on rope bondage, but there are also the most important basics about BDSM itself, perfect. The way in which emergencies or other events should be dealt with is shown in flow charts. Brilliant! The instructions are very well illustrated and presented in detail. Bonds come in all variations with helpful clues. It is a dream. If you speak the English language or are ready to have it translated (a smartphone should be able to do that already) then buy this book absolutely! Absolute recommendation for anyone who wants to learn and love rope bondage!

Foundations of Rope Bondage

Fantastic book that distills down the best of theDuchy into a more user friendly experience. Photo tutorials are detailed and of a high quality. I particularly appreciate the sections discussing safety, consen, negotiation and planning a scene. The textbook format is much easier and intimate to share with a partner versus a screen as well. Will be studying this cover to cover for the next year ☺️

The one book you need to start or get better

I really like this book. For me, buying rope books is almost as fun as buying rope. But I've definitely seen better and worse. This is now one of my top 2 most useful books. It covers what you need to both do ties and have rope scenes which is often a missing piece. I love the safety information, picture check lists for what should be in your bag and some really clear ways to think about consent. I really love the instruction method for the ties. I can really get lost when the "over-under, over-under" starts. But here, it's from place to new place with super clear photos. (It's why I picked the photo i did. ) The white background and blue glove look is genius. This book really is foundational and it made me better at tying and being tied. (I did trade an expired epi pen for a copy of the book. See it on the bottom right corner of page 93! I think I'll be picking up a loaner copy, though. )

I have a lot of books, this is my new go to and I'll recommend it to everyone.

I've already bought an extra copy, and I absolutely love the way the material is presented and the depth some of the topics covered when they're usually papered over. If you want to get to start on your bondage journey this is a great starting point, and if you've been at it a while this is a wonderful teaching tool for others or a great place to review fundamentals. Get this book!

Laid out beautifully

I love how this book expertly lays out the tying process. The fact that it offers pictures for the steps is a game changer for us visual learners. I love the techniques used, because I find it artful. It's not a hasty "this'll do the trick" rope. It's beautiful. I'm learning a lot, and it offers a lot to learn. Very excited to have this!

The Authority On Rope's Book

Spectacular book written with care by an 25+ year expert in the field. The Duchy has been _the_ source of information on ropework for years and this book is an excellent lesson in foundationals and a great reference for play.

This book is so wonderful. I have a lot of people ask me for recommendations and this one is my new go to. Sooooo much safety information and visuals as well as basic ties and foundational knowledge. Absolutely amazing book to have and if you're only gonna get one, I strongly suggest it be this one.

Fantastic illustrated textbook

Haven't had a chance to try it out yet, but it's large and extremely thorough textbook on the art of rope bondage, explaining all the knots with detailed well-illustrated step by step instructions. It's not titillating; the model is covered in white, and it's actually hard to tell that she's not a mannequin. The focus is on the knots.

Amazing Resource for Rope, Shibari, and BDSM as a Whole

Reading this book might have been the most surprising things I've encountered in a while. They have done an amazing job taking a vast amount of knowledge, and condensing it to it's core, knowledge that it can take a lifetime of mistakes in the community to learn. This book impressed me not because of how amazingly it taught rope and shibari. It impressed me because it went beyond that, and gave it's reader a primer for what BDSM is, and what BDSM could be for us all. From reviewing core concepts of risk assessment philosophy, to best practices for approaching all notions of BDSM, to giving an easy to understand walk through for various levels of shabari and rope, Foundations of Rope Bondage may be the best BDSM instructional book I've ever read.
