Missionary Cradle
By Lazarus

This simple tie, also known as the Sex Sling, can be created using nothing but Foundations 1 techniques. It holds your partner in a “missionary” position. There are a few important risks to understand, however, that can make this tie much safer and more comfortable.
This has a similar effect as the Malasana Tie. The difference is that the Malsana runs the band behind your partner’s back instead of over the shoulder allowing you to bind your partner into a more extreme spread.
Risk Management and Safety
If tied tightly, this can hold your partner’s spine in a curved shape. Make sure that is a sustainable position for them.
In the form shown (with the tail going over each shoulder only once), there are only two strands pressing into your partner’s trapezius muscles. This bring two risks:
- The pressure on the muscles can be quite intense because it is concentrated on just those two strands. If you find this to be an issue, you can use a longer rope and go back and forth once or twice to make the straps wider.
- If you are moving around a lot, it can easily cause abrasions (rope burn). It can be helpful to allow your partner some protection for their shoulders, a shirt or maybe a towel. This can also help with the pressure issue.
If your partner has a great deal of hip mobility and their legs can move further apart than average, the shoulder straps can slide off the shoulders! If this happens, consider using the Malasana instead. Or you can use the left over tail to connect the cuffs together loosely in front as well to keep them together.
Rope Needed
- I used two 15’ (~4.5m) for this tie and had some left over, so that would be enough for someone a bit bigger than this model
- HOT TIP! If you use a longer rope, you can make the shoulder straps wider and more comfortable!
